
Joel Soh
Co-Founder and Managing Director
Joel Soh hails from a small coastal town in Terengganu, Malaysia. His passion for filmmaking and achievements in creative arts from a young age led him to being awarded a scholarship from the country's largest media broadcast company - Astro. Following that, Joel graduated from Emerson College, Boston, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in filmmaking and minor in philosophy.
Upon his return to Malaysia, Joel joined Astro Shaw, where he worked on over 10 feature films in various capacities, including on Malaysian blockbuster hits such as The Journey (2014) and Ola Bola (2016). In 2015, Joel wrote and produced the feature film Polis Evo (2015). The film earned RM18 million in the box office, which was then the highest grossing Malaysian film of all time.
In 2016, following the success of Polis Evo, Joel co-founded Blackflag Sdn Bhd and was appointed as its General Manager. He then began producing, writing and directing Blackflag's first feature film Polis Evo 2 (2018). This second instalment in the franchise was released in 2018 and surpassed its predecessor at the Malaysian box office by earning a total of RM 24 million. The Polis Evo franchise is to date one of the highest grossing film franchises in Malaysian cinema history.

David Lin
Co-Founder and Business Development
David Lin is an entrepreneur who specialises in venture capital and deal structuring. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Marketing from Marquette University, Wisconsin.
David previously worked as an equities analyst at a fund management company, followed by a role as an investment manager in principal-led private equity firms, focusing on venture capital and asset acquisitions. He has managed investment portfolios of more than RM250 million across various industries and markets, including Singapore, the UK, and Australia.
In 2016, David co-founded Blackflag and served as its Finance Director. In 2026, he transitioned into a business development role, where he now focuses on strategic growth, partnerships, and deal structuring.

Hee Dominique
Business Development
Hee Dominique is a film industry professional with over 25 years of experience across film distribution, acquisition, exhibition, and production. She led cross-market distribution strategies at ATriNaga for over 15 years, overseeing releases across Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.
She previously held senior marketing leadership roles at Buena Vista Columbia Tristar Films Malaysia and Golden Screen Cinemas, contributing to the growth of theatrical marketing and audience engagement in the region.
Hee has also served as Executive Producer and Producer on acclaimed films, documentaries, and television projects, including Dukun (2018), Lelaki Harapan Dunia (2014), Way to School (2014), Spinning Gasing (2001), and Ah Girl (2001). These works have collectively received more than 20 major awards.
In 2026, Hee joined Blackflag as part of its business development team.

Yu Ern Chia
Co-Producer
Yu Ern Chia is originally from Penang, Malaysia. She studied Information Technology and Data Science at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT).
After completing her studies, Yu Ern relocated to Kuala Lumpur and went on to serve as a Film Programmer at the Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest), which remains the largest major film festival in Malaysia. In this role, she worked extensively across international film programming, industry initiatives, and community outreach, contributing to the festival's curatorial direction and regional positioning.
In 2025, Yu Ern joined Blackflag as Co-Producer and Programme Manager.

Yeap Yoon Teik
Finance Manager
Yeap Yoon Teik is a finance professional with over 18 years of experience spanning audit, commercial finance, and professional practice. He began his career at KPMG, where he worked on statutory audits, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance engagements, primarily within the oil & gas and manufacturing sectors. During his four-year tenure, he was promoted to Assistant Manager.
He later joined the Genting Group as Finance Manager, where he gained extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, and operational finance. In this role, he worked closely with management across multiple business segments, including hospitality, transportation, theme parks, utilities, and leisure operations, providing him with broad cross-functional exposure and a strong understanding of complex organisational structures.
Drawing on his experience in both professional practice and the commercial sector, Yeap went on to establish and lead a business advisory firm, where he provides advisory services to corporate and owner-managed businesses. His work focuses on governance, regulatory compliance, and delivering practical, value-driven solutions for SMEs.
In 2026, Yeap joined Blackflag as Finance Manager.

Yew Miin Chu
Line Producer
For over 17 years, Yewmiin has dedicated herself to the film and television industry, beginning her journey with documentaries that capture the beauty and sorrow of Malaysia through powerful imagery. Her diverse talents encompass the roles of producer, director, and writer.
She founded A Sand Pictures in 2021. In the realms of film, television, documentary, advertising, the Internet, or written word, her aspiration is to harness diverse media to share the compelling narratives of individuals and the landscapes they inhabit.
In 2026, Yew Miin joined Blackflag as Line Producer.
